Mayor Bac Thomas and Spotlight Store Manager Mandy Medcraft

Job seekers now have more opportunities to find work, thanks to a new partnership with Spotlight Glenorchy.

This exciting partnership aims to reduce unemployment in the Glenorchy region by upskilling local job seekers and students with the tools to succeed in the job market.

Today, Spotlight commits to investing in local unemployment by providing information sessions, mentoring programs and training opportunities for job seekers and students.

Glenorchy City Mayor, Bec Thomas is thrilled about the partnership and views these collaborations as a win-win for both local job seekers and businesses.

“It is fantastic to see the continued success of the Glenorchy Jobs Hub,” said Ms Thomas.

“Since opening, it has positively impacted businesses and job seekers alike. It has been wonderful seeing businesses pledge their commitment to providing opportunities to our local job seekers. We are thrilled to have Spotlight on board as a significant new employer in our municipality.”

Spotlight Glenorchy Store Manager, Mandy Medcraft also looks forward to the partnership with the local service and the new job placements soon to come.

“We look forward to providing support and mentoring for our community,” said Mandy.

‘We have been impressed with the quality of job seekers coming from the Jobs Hub and look forward to ongoing successes and employment opportunities.”

The Glenorchy Jobs Hub is supported by a $1.3 million grant from the Tasmanian Government as part of Jobs Tasmania’s Regional Jobs Hub Network. Glenorchy Jobs Hub is a not-for-profit initiative run by Glenorchy City Council in partnership with STEPS Group Australia.
