  • Do you love burgers?
  • Do you love craft beer?
  • Do you have a great tolerance for chilli?
  • Do you believe in providing a next-level hospitality experience?

Are you interested in progressing your career in hospitality rather than just coasting along?
Brewlab, located in Derwent Park, is a community-focused cafe specialising in Tasmanian
craft beer and char-grilled burgers made fresh, from locally sourced ingredients. We believe
in creating a welcoming and inviting atmosphere for the local community and visitors from all
over. We have a micro-brewery onsite, and two event spaces that regularly host a range of
fun and exciting community based events.

Our kitchen is not just about burgers, we also offer a range of function options from BBQ to
paella. We focus on supporting our local suppliers using fresh, local ingredients and
minimising waste through innovative menu design and cooking techniques. Our chefs
collaborate to create specials each week, and we bottle and sell a range of products
including our famous chilli sauce!

We are looking for a full-time kitchen manager to assist the Head Chef. Duties will include:

  • Independently managing day-to-day kitchen operations in the absence of the Head
Chef, including a team of 4 casual chefs.
  • Attending weekly one-on-ones and team meetings, and engaging in quarterly team
    strategy sessions.
  • Monthly stock takes.
  • Keeping wage costs and COGs within target ranges.
  • Assisting with the growth and development of our team and the business as a whole.

Our ideal candidate will bring to the role the following:

  • Willingness to adapt and grow with the business.
  • Proven ability in a similar role.
  • A genuine interest in our industry.
  • The ability to deliver service in a hot, fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Genuine willingness to take on feedback and receive coaching.

Brewlab can offer a very flexible work schedule, opportunities for personal and professional
growth, creative freedom and a fun inclusive workspace. Each full-time staff member takes
on the role of party planner a few times a year for our monthly team events. If you want
somewhere to settle in, somewhere with long-term employment opportunities, and
somewhere you will find lifelong friends within your workmates, Brewlab is the place for you!
