Once registered, schools will receive further details about the event — including venue guidance, arrival instructions and any updates — via email as we approach the expo date. This ensures teachers and coordinators have the most current information to finalise planning.

MyState Bank Arena offers ample dedicated bus parking, making it easy for schools to coordinate large groups. On arrival, buses should follow the traffic guidance provided by event staff on the day. Bus parking will be located in the section of the carpark closest to Elwick Park Racecourse, as shown on the map provided to schools.
A designated bus stop is located near the pathway to the main arena entrance, allowing students to disembark safely before buses move into the parking area. Staff vehicles and other support cars may use the standard arena carparks, which offer plenty of space throughout the day.
Schools arriving by bus are encouraged to follow all traffic management directions to ensure a smooth flow of vehicles and a safe arrival experience for students. Additional information, including any temporary traffic changes, will be provided to schools closer to the event.
Students will have the chance to explore a diverse range of exhibitors representing real pathways into work, training, and further study. Exhibitors include TasTAFE, university and higher education providers, Defence Force Recruiting, Tasmania Police, Ambulance Tasmania, State Emergency Service, fire and rescue services, local and statewide training providers, and industry groups covering trades, technology, health, hospitality, construction, community services, manufacturing, and more.
The expo is designed to be hands-on and highly interactive, with many exhibitors offering practical demonstrations, tools, simulations and immersive activities. Students can try equipment, explore industry displays, and engage directly with people working in the field to understand what different careers look and feel like in practice.
Throughout the day, students and teachers can attend Q&A panels featuring employers, apprentices, trainees, training advisors and job specialists. These sessions provide practical advice on choosing pathways, getting job-ready, and navigating the early stages of employment, making them valuable for students at any point in their career exploration.
Teachers are encouraged to brief students beforehand about making the most of their visit: exploring a variety of industries, asking exhibitors thoughtful questions, collecting information and resources, and keeping an open mind about new pathways and opportunities. The expo is built to spark curiosity, support informed decision-making, and give students meaningful exposure to real career options in Southern Tasmania.

The expo is designed as a safe, inclusive and welcoming space for everyone. While we strongly encourage school attendance, the event is not exclusively a schools-only environment - students will be sharing the venue with a wide range of jobseekers, community members, exhibitors and visitors. To ensure the experience remains respectful and enjoyable for all attendees, we ask schools to brief students on the importance of conducting themselves in a considerate and responsible manner.
Students should move through the venue calmly, engage politely with exhibitors, and maintain respect for other visitors at all times. Some exhibitors may feature hands-on, interactive or equipment-based displays, and while all displays are operated by professional, trained and friendly staff, students are expected to follow instructions, use equipment responsibly, and avoid interfering with displays without permission.
Schools retain full responsibility for supervising their students throughout the visit, including managing any inappropriate behaviour in line with their own behaviour and wellbeing policies. If behaviour becomes unsafe, disruptive or impacts the experience of others, event organisers may request that the school group leave the venue, and security personnel will be available to support this if required.
Our goal is to create a positive, engaging and safe environment where all visitors - students and public alike - can explore pathways and opportunities with confidence and respect.
A kiosk will be open throughout the event, offering a range of food and beverage options for students and staff. Schools are welcome to bring their own snacks or lunches; however, please note that the venue does not provide facilities for storing, chilling or heating food from outside. Students should plan to carry any personal food items with them.
TasWater will be providing a water refill station, allowing students to top up their drink bottles as needed during their visit. There is some seating available throughout the venue for resting, eating or regrouping, though seating capacity may be limited during peak times.
St John will be onsite to provide first aid support, and their location will be clearly signposted for easy identification. Students and staff may bring bags into the venue; however, due to expected high visitor numbers, schools are encouraged to opt for smaller backpacks where possible to help maintain clear walkways and minimise crowding.
The venue offers full accessibility, including flat entry points and accessible bathrooms. Although this section of the event occurs outside typical school-visit hours, schools may wish to note that the expo will host a Sensory Hour from 3:00–4:00pm, designed for visitors who prefer a quieter environment.
The expo is designed to spark curiosity and help students discover pathways they may never have considered. We encourage students to make the most of their time by asking questions, engaging in conversations, and speaking with a range of exhibitors — not just the ones they already know. The more exhibitors they connect with, the broader and more informed their understanding of local opportunities becomes.
Students are invited to try hands-on activities, explore interactive displays and dive into industries they may be unfamiliar with. Whether it’s learning how a trade tool works, understanding a university pathway, or speaking with someone currently working in the field, these moments help students build real insight into what different careers involve.
Above all, curiosity is key. The expo works best when students approach it with an open mind: collecting information, comparing pathways, asking exhibitors about training options, entry requirements, and day-to-day work, and taking note of anything that catches their interest. Even brief conversations can help students make more confident decisions about future study, work and training.
Photography & Videography
Photography, video and audio recording will take place throughout the expo. This may be carried out by the organisers (Glenorchy Jobs Hub, Glenorchy City Council), exhibitors, media, or other approved parties.
By entering the venue, visitors consent to the use of these images and recordings for purposes related to marketing this and future events.
Lost Property
Any lost property found during the event will be managed by MyState Bank Arena. Teachers or students seeking lost items can approach arena staff for assistance.
If Students Become Separated
Students who become separated from their group can seek support from event crew, who will be clearly identifiable in bright pink vests. Crew can assist in locating supervising teachers or guiding students to a designated meeting point.
Emergencies & Safety
In the event of an emergency, MyState Bank Arena staff will coordinate all emergency response and evacuation procedures. All visitors should follow the instructions of arena personnel immediately. Event crew and security will also be available to assist if required.
