Ghaith’s Journey : Finding His Footing – and His Future – in Tasmania

When Ghaith first stepped through the doors of the Glenorchy Jobs Hub, he was just weeks away from completing his Master of Professional Engineering (Civil & Structural) at the University of Tasmania. He arrived with a clear goal; build a meaningful career – and a long-term future – here in Tasmania. His enthusiasm, determination, and genuine excitement about beginning this next chapter were impossible to miss.

From the moment he connected with GJH, our team were eager to help him put his best foot forward. Together, we spent time strengthening his résumé and cover letters, practising STAR-style interview techniques, and exploring what employers in the Australian job market are really looking for. These sessions became a space not only to build skills, but also to ask questions, reflect, and grow confidence as he navigated a brand-new employment landscape.

As Ghaith refined his applications and prepared for interviews, you could see his readiness grow. Soon enough, he put everything he’d learned into action - and before long, he reached out to the Hub with a message that made everyone smile: he had successfully secured an engineering role with TasPorts!

We couldn’t be happier for him. Watching Ghaith find his footing in Tasmania’s engineering industry has been a privilege. His journey is a wonderful reflection of his resilience, his hard work, and the talent he brings to his field. The entire Glenorchy Jobs Hub team is proud to have been part of his transition from university into his professional career, and we’re excited to see all that he will contribute to Tasmania in the years ahead.
