Thousands Turn Out for Careers Expo

The 2025 Hobart and Southern Tasmania Employment & Careers Expo has been hailed a success, with more than 2,500 visitors and over 100 exhibitors coming together for one of the state's largest and most dynamic employment events to date.

Held on April 8 and hosted by Glenorchy Jobs Hub, the Expo offered something for everyone—from school leavers and jobseekers to career changers and curious locals. Visitors were treated to a wide variety of industries on display, including construction, health, defence, hospitality, aged care, tech, and more.

One of the standout features of the day was the range of interactive and immersive displays. Attendees could try their hand at virtual welding, experience a day in the life of a nurse through VR, or hop aboard emergency services vehicles—all providing a hands-on feel for different career paths.

The feedback from both visitors and exhibitors was overwhelmingly positive. Many attendees commented on the welcoming, energetic atmosphere and the chance to have real conversations with employers and training providers. Exhibitors praised the event for its scale, organisation, and the genuine interest shown by the public.

“This event was about more than handing out flyers —it was about creating connections, sparking interest, and showing people what’s really possible,” said a Glenorchy Jobs Hub representative. “We’re thrilled to see so many people walk away inspired about their future.”

The Expo has firmly cemented its place on the region’s calendar as a must-attend event for anyone exploring the world of work in Southern Tasmania, with planning underway for the 2026 edition.
