Laxmi’s Story: Finding Her Footing in Tasmania’s Early Childhood Sector

When Laxmi arrived in Tasmania only a few months ago, she brought with her a wealth of passion and a freshly completed Graduate Diploma of Early Childhood Teaching from Sydney. What she didn’t expect was how difficult it could be to secure stable work in a new state. Whilst she had secured a casual role, it unfortunately offered only limited hours and wasn’t providing the stable experience she was hoping to build.

Determined to move forward, Laxmi connected with the Glenorchy Jobs Hub and met with Jobs Coach Grace. Together, they reviewed her previous job applications and explored how she could stand out in Tasmania’s competitive early childhood education market. Grace supported Laxmi to craft a stronger resume, refine her cover letter technique, and gain confidence in presenting her experience to local employers.

With this new toolkit, the Jobs Hub reached out to a local early learning service provider and shared Laxmi’s updated resume for any upcoming opportunities. The response was almost immediate — Laxmi was contacted for an interview later that same day.

We were thrilled (and not at all surprised!) to hear that Laxmi has since been offered a role as an Early Childhood Educator. She is excited to begin this next chapter, and we’re proud to have supported her journey into meaningful employment here in Southern Tasmania.

Congratulations, Laxmi — we can’t wait to see the difference you’ll make in your new workplace.
