From College to Careers — Poppy and Isis Begin Their Employment Journeys

At Glenorchy Jobs Hub, we celebrate local people taking meaningful steps toward their career goals with support, confidence and determination.

Starting the Journey
After finishing college in late 2025, friends Poppy and Isis both wanted to find work that suited their skills and interests. Isis was the first to visit the Jobs Hub, where Youth Coach Monique welcomed her and explained the range of support available. Isis came to the Hub during peak hospitality season and understood this would be the easiest industry to currently find quick employment.

Support and Skill-Building
With Monique’s tailored one-on-one assistance, Isis completed the RSA and participated in the Troublesmiths First Shift Program, where she gained hands-on hospitality experience. Through this support, she developed her confidence and workplace skills and was ready to take the next step. Monique then helped Isis prepare for job applications and interviews, leading to her first role as a glassy at O’Bar. Her progress didn’t stop there - with continued guidance and regular appointments, Isis later secured an interview with Federal Group and was offered a Front of House position.

Poppy’s Path to Employment
Through word of mouth from Isis, Poppy came to the Hub to explore her own goals. She shared her aim of gaining work experience in cleaning, and the Hub team worked on building a relationship with Anglicare. With this support, Poppy successfully secured a role with Anglicare as a Home Cleaner, where she is now gaining experience and confidence in her work.

Looking Ahead
The Hub is incredibly proud of both Poppy and Isis. Their dedication to pursuing employment and willingness to attend and engage in their scheduled appointments, show how the right guidance can open doors and build pathways into work. We wish them all the best as their careers continue to grow.
