“Show Off Your Skills with a Digital Portfolio”
Sometimes a resume is not enough to show an employer what you can really do. That is where a digital portfolio can help. It is a simple way to share photos or examples of your work that bring your skills to life.
A portfolio is not only for artists or designers. Entry-level jobseekers in many industries can benefit from one:
🖌️ Creative roles – photos of artwork, crafts, or design projects
🔨 Trades – before and after shots of projects, tools you have worked with, or training tasks you have completed
👩🍳 Hospitality – pictures of dishes you have prepared, table settings, or events you have helped with
🎭 Community and performance roles – evidence of volunteering, teamwork, or events you have supported
Why is this important? Employers love seeing proof of what you can do. A neat set of images or examples makes your abilities real and memorable, especially when you do not have years of experience to rely on. It also shows effort, pride, and initiative, which are qualities employers notice and value.
The good news is you do not need anything complicated. A simple PDF, PowerPoint, or even a folder of labelled images can be enough. If you are comfortable online, you can also keep a private Google Drive or Canva link ready to share when asked.
👉 Tip: Select your best 5 to 10 examples, make sure photos are clear and well lit, and add short captions that explain what each one shows. Practice talking about them so you feel confident if an interviewer asks you to describe your work.
A digital portfolio is like a visual resume. It gives your application colour, personality, and real evidence that you are ready to contribute. If you would like a bit of assistance in creating your portfolio, get in touch with the team at GJH today!
